The Patscherkofel is a 2,246-metre peak south of Innsbruck, reached by cable car from Igls. It served as the downhill ski venue for the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and is famous for its botanical alpine garden 'Alpengarten Patscherkofel' with over 400 high-altitude plant species.
The original cable car was built for the 1964 Winter Olympics. A modern 10-seater gondola opened in 2017. The alpine garden was established in 1930 by the University of Innsbruck.
