Overview
Scattered across Ljubljana's southern neighborhoods are excavated remains of Emona, a 1st-century Roman colony. The best-preserved sections include defensive walls, a house floor mosaic, and foundations displayed in situ.

History
Emona was established as a Roman colony around 14 AD and thrived until the 5th century. Excavations since the 19th century have revealed its grid layout, walls, and public buildings beneath modern Ljubljana.
