The National Gallery of Slovenia (Narodna galerija) is the country's main fine art museum, housing European and Slovenian paintings spanning from the Gothic period to the early 20th century. A modern glass-and-steel extension connects two historic buildings on Prešernova cesta.
Founded in 1918, the gallery is housed in the 1896 National House building, expanded with a modern wing in 2001. It holds over 600 works on permanent display from the 13th to the 20th century.
