Ljubljana Funicular

Overview

The Ljubljana Funicular is a modern glass-walled cable railway connecting Krekov trg in the old town to Ljubljana Castle in just one minute. It is the quickest and most scenic way to reach the castle hilltop.

History

The funicular opened in 2006 as part of the castle's renovation and tourism development. It replaced the need for the 10-minute uphill walk (which remains an alternative route through the forest).
