Overview

Krakovo is a quiet, village-like neighborhood just south of the old town, considered Ljubljana's oldest suburb. It is known for its community vegetable gardens, narrow streets, and Plečnik's Church of St. Michael.

History

Krakovo was originally a fishing settlement outside the medieval walls. Its residents supplied the city with vegetables and fish, a tradition partly preserved in the community gardens today.
