Overview
Cobbler's Bridge (Čevljarski most) is a Plečnik-designed pedestrian bridge linking Novi trg to Stari trg across the Ljubljanica. Its Corinthian columns and stone balustrades make it one of the city's most elegant crossings.
Highlights
- Plečnik Columns: Pairs of Corinthian columns at each end, giving the bridge a classical temple-like approach.
- River Views: A perfect vantage point for photographing the Ljubljanica with the castle in the background.
- Historic Connection: Links the Baroque old town (Stari trg) to the cultural quarter (Novi trg).
History
The name refers to the medieval cobblers' workshops that once lined the original wooden bridge. Plečnik redesigned it in 1931–32 as part of his comprehensive urban renewal of Ljubljana's riverside.
