The FRAC PACA (Fonds Régional d'Art Contemporain Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) occupies a semi-translucent, paneled building by Kengo Kuma in the Joliette quarter. It houses the regional public collection of contemporary art and presents free exhibitions.
FRAC PACA was established in 1982 as part of the national network of regional contemporary art funds. After decades in temporary spaces, it moved to its purpose-built Kengo Kuma building in 2013 — another cultural institution opened for European Capital of Culture.
