Overview

Ehrenfeld has become an open-air gallery through the CityLeaks Urban Art Festival (held biennially since 2011) and spontaneous murals by local and international artists. Building-sized works transform industrial facades into a walkable art exhibition.

History

Street art took root in Ehrenfeld in the early 2000s as the neighborhood attracted artists to its empty industrial walls. The CityLeaks festival (2011–present) formalized the movement, commissioning landmark murals.
