The Belgian Quarter (Belgisches Viertel) is Cologne's trendiest neighborhood, centered on streets named after Belgian cities — Brüsseler Platz, Antwerpener Straße, and Maastrichter Straße. It's the go-to area for independent boutiques, specialty coffee shops, and contemporary galleries.
Named in the 1880s after Belgian cities during the Gründerzeit building boom. The quarter's Wilhelminian-era apartment buildings survived WWII relatively intact, making it one of Cologne's best-preserved 19th-century districts.
