Two Oceans Aquarium

Overview

The Two Oceans Aquarium showcases the extraordinary marine biodiversity found where the cold Atlantic and warm Indian Oceans meet at the tip of Africa. Located at the V&A Waterfront, it features over 3,000 marine animals.

Highlights

• Kelp Forest: A mesmerising two-storey living kelp forest, one of very few in captivity worldwide.
• Predator Exhibit: Ragged-tooth sharks, short-tail stingrays, and loggerhead turtles in a massive tank.
• Touch Pool: Interactive rock pools where you can handle sea stars, anemones, and sea urchins.

History

Opened in 1995 at the V&A Waterfront, the aquarium was conceived as an educational and conservation facility. It runs active turtle and penguin rehabilitation programmes and has successfully bred several endangered species.

• Shark Diving: Certified divers can dive in the predator exhibit — book in advance.
• Feeding Times: Check the daily schedule for penguin and predator feeding shows.
• Duration: 1.5–2 hours.
