The iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign stands in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard South, just south of Mandalay Bay. Designed in 1959, it is one of the most photographed landmarks in the United States.

History
Betty Willis designed the sign in 1959 for Western Neon. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. The sign was intended to greet visitors entering Las Vegas from the south.
