Mirage Volcano

Overview

The Mirage Volcano is a free outdoor attraction featuring eruptions of fire, water, and music on a lagoon in front of The Mirage hotel. The pyrotechnic display shoots fireballs over 12 feet in the air.

Highlights

• Fire Effects: Real fire erupts from the lagoon using a proprietary piped-gas system.
• Sound Design: The eruption soundtrack was composed by Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart and Indian tabla musician Zakir Hussain.
• Heat: Standing close to the railing, visitors can feel the heat from the flames.

History

The original volcano debuted when The Mirage opened in 1989. It was rebuilt in 2008 with an upgraded fire and water system. Note: check current operating status as The Mirage underwent ownership changes.

Visitor Tips

• Show Times: Eruptions typically occur at 8 PM, 9 PM, and 10 PM nightly (weather permitting).
• Duration: 15–20 minutes.
