Takapuna Beach is a popular North Shore beach with golden sand and sweeping views of Rangitoto Island. The beach is backed by a vibrant café and dining strip and is well suited to swimming and paddling.
The beach sits on land originally part of a Māori coastal settlement. The fossilised kauri stumps exposed at low tide are estimated to be around 100,000 years old, preserved by volcanic ash from the Rangitoto eruptions.
