Holy Trinity Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral of Auckland, set among heritage buildings in Parnell. The striking modern nave, consecrated in 1973, combines Gothic proportions with contemporary New Zealand materials including kauri wood and Hinuera stone.
The original wooden church on this site dates from 1843. The Victorian Gothic St Mary's was moved to its current position in 1982 — the largest wooden building ever relocated in New Zealand. The modern cathedral was designed to complement rather than replace the historic church.
