Overview
Kintamani is a highland village on the rim of the ancient Batur caldera, offering sweeping views of Mount Batur's volcanic cone, the crescent-shaped Lake Batur, and the outer caldera wall. It is one of Bali's most popular scenic viewpoints.

History
The Batur caldera was formed by two catastrophic eruptions roughly 29,300 and 20,150 years ago. The current cone has been built by eruptions over the past few centuries.
