Star Ferry

Overview

The Star Ferry has been shuttling passengers across Victoria Harbour since 1888, making it one of the oldest and most beloved transport services in the world. The green-and-white double-decker ferries offer some of the best views of the Hong Kong skyline.

History

Founded by Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala, a Parsee businessman, the Star Ferry Company began with a single steam-powered vessel. It has survived wars, typhoons, and cross-harbour tunnels to remain essential.

• Best time: Sunset or during the nightly Symphony of Lights show at 8 PM.
