Central–Mid-Levels Escalator

Overview

The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is the world's longest outdoor covered escalator system, stretching 800 metres and rising 135 metres from Central to the Mid-Levels.

History

Built in 1993 at HK$245 million to ease Mid-Levels commutes. It was featured in Wong Kar-wai's film Chungking Express.

Visitor Tips

• Full ride: About 20 minutes one-way without stopping.
• Best approach: Ride uphill (after 10 AM) and explore SoHo along the way.
• Duration: 20–30 minutes.
