Casa-Museo Federico García Lorca

Overview

The Huerta de San Vicente was the country house where Federico García Lorca and his family spent summers from 1926 to 1936. Now inside the city's Parque García Lorca, it preserves the poet's study, bedroom, and personal objects.

History

Lorca was born in Fuente Vaqueros but this Granada house was his creative retreat. He was murdered by Francoist forces in August 1936, just weeks after the Civil War began. The house was opened as a museum in 1995.
