The Tallinn Botanic Garden covers 123 hectares on the eastern outskirts of the city, featuring both outdoor gardens and tropical greenhouses. It maintains over 4,500 plant species, making it an important centre for botanical research and conservation in the Baltic region.
Founded in 1961 as a research facility of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, the garden gradually opened to the public. After independence, it was transferred to Tallinn University and has continued expanding its collections and educational programs.
