Rotermann Quarter is a striking architectural district where 19th-century industrial buildings have been boldly combined with ultra-modern glass-and-steel additions. Located between the Old Town and the harbour, it represents Tallinn's confident embrace of contemporary design.
The quarter takes its name from the Rotermann industrial dynasty, who operated flour mills, distilleries, and starch factories here from the 1820s. The district fell into disrepair during the Soviet era and was systematically redeveloped starting in the 2000s, winning multiple European architecture awards.
