Patkuli Viewing Platform sits on the western edge of Toompea Hill, offering a dramatic perspective over the lower town's medieval towers and walls, with the harbour and modern city stretching beyond. It is slightly less crowded than its eastern counterpart at Kohtuotsa.
Named after the Baltic German revolutionary Johann Reinhold von Patkul, who was executed in 1707 for opposing Swedish rule. The staircase connecting the upper and lower towns has existed in various forms since the medieval period.
