Overview
Third Beach is the most secluded of Stanley Park's three beaches, tucked along the western edge overlooking English Bay. It's a local favourite for its quieter atmosphere, fire pits, and dramatic sunset views.
Highlights
- Beach Fires: One of the few Vancouver beaches that permits bonfires in designated pits—a quintessential summer evening.
- Sunset: Unobstructed western exposure produces some of the best sunsets in the park.
- Quiet Atmosphere: Less crowded than English Bay, attracting a more relaxed, local crowd.
History
A public recreation area since Stanley Park's founding in 1888. Unlike the more developed Second Beach, Third Beach has been deliberately kept in a more natural state.
Visitor Tips
- Fire Pits: Arrive before 5 PM on summer evenings to claim one—they fill up fast. Bring your own firewood.
- Access: Reach the beach via a short walk from the Seawall or from the Ferguson Point parking lot.
- Duration: 1–2 hours.
