The Penthouse is Vancouver's oldest operating nightclub on Seymour Street. Founded in 1947, it has a storied history as a jazz club, supper club, and burlesque venue that hosted some of the biggest names in 20th-century entertainment.
Opened in 1947 by Joe Philliponi, the Penthouse was Vancouver's premier supper club during the postwar era. It has survived moral panics, police raids, and changing tastes. A 2010s restoration revived its original mid-century character.
