Overview
Kitsilano is a laid-back beachside neighbourhood stretching from English Bay to Broadway, known for its beach culture, yoga studios, organic food shops, and spectacular views of the downtown skyline and North Shore mountains.

History
Named after Chief Khahtsahlano of the Squamish Nation, Kitsilano was Vancouver's hippie heartland in the 1960s–70s. Greenpeace was founded in a Kitsilano house in 1971. The neighbourhood retains its health-conscious, outdoor-oriented lifestyle culture.
