Christ Church Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in downtown Vancouver and the oldest surviving church in the city. The Gothic Revival stone building sits amid glass towers of the financial district, providing a striking architectural contrast.
The original wooden church was built in 1889 and replaced by the current stone structure in 1895, designed by C.O. Wickenden. Threatened with demolition in the 1970s for a commercial highrise, the cathedral was saved by a heritage preservation campaign.
