The Chinatown Millennium Gate is a monumental gateway arch spanning Pender Street at the entrance to Vancouver's historic Chinatown. Erected in 2002, its design blends traditional Chinese architectural elements with Western influences.
Built in 2002 to honour the contributions of Chinese Canadians. Vancouver's Chinatown was founded in the 1880s by immigrants who came to build the Canadian Pacific Railway. Despite discrimination including the Chinese Exclusion Act (1923–1947), the community built a vibrant cultural district now designated a National Historic Site.
