Overview
The KL Butterfly Park is a landscaped tropical garden within the Lake Gardens enclosing over 5,000 butterflies from 120 species. Walking through its netted enclosure feels like stepping into a living kaleidoscope.
Highlights
- Rajah Brooke's birdwing: Malaysia's national butterfly, a striking green-and-black species, is commonly sighted.
- Chrysalis nursery: Watch pupae develop through transparent cases in the breeding lab.
- Insect museum: A small collection of beetles, stick insects, and scorpions adjacent to the main garden.
History
Opened in 1986, the park was designed to educate visitors about Malaysia's Lepidoptera diversity. It remains one of the few butterfly parks in the world set within a genuine tropical forest canopy.
