Overview
The Zócalo, officially Plaza de la Constitución, is one of the world's largest public squares and the ceremonial heart of Mexico. Flanked by the National Palace, the Cathedral, and the Templo Mayor ruins.

History
Originally the ceremonial centre of Tenochtitlán, the square was repurposed by the Spanish as their colonial Plaza Mayor.

- Metro access: Zócalo station (Line 2) exits directly onto the square.
