Overview

A narrow alleyway where freshly dyed skeins of wool and silk hang from overhead poles, creating a spectacular canopy of colour—one of the most visually striking corners of the medina.

History

The dyers' quarter has occupied this spot for centuries, using water from the Ali ben Youssef fountain. Traditional natural dyes included saffron, indigo, and pomegranate rind.
