Overview
Sky Lagoon is a premium oceanside geothermal infinity pool on the Kársnes peninsula, just 15 minutes from central Reykjavík. Its signature seven-step spa ritual—alternating between heat, cold, and relaxation—draws on centuries of Icelandic bathing tradition.
Highlights
- Infinity Edge: The main geothermal lagoon appears to merge with the North Atlantic horizon, especially dramatic at sunset.
- Seven-Step Ritual: A curated sequence—lagoon, cold plunge, sauna, cold mist, sky body scrub, steam room, shower—designed for total relaxation.
- Turf-Wall Architecture: The spa blends into the lava-rock coastline with traditional Icelandic turf-wall design elements.
History
Opened in 2021, Sky Lagoon was designed by Pursuit and Basalt Architects to offer a more intimate, design-forward alternative to the Blue Lagoon. It quickly became one of Reykjavík's most popular attractions.
Visitor Tips
- Book Ahead: Pre-booking is essential, especially on weekends and during peak season.
- Duration: 2–3 hours.
- Packages: The "Sky" pass includes the ritual; the "Pure" pass is lagoon-only and more affordable.
