Howth is a picturesque fishing village on the northern tip of Dublin Bay, easily reached by DART train. It offers a working harbour, excellent seafood, coastal walks, and views across to Ireland's Eye — all just 30 minutes from the city centre.
Howth was the main packet station for mail boats from Britain before Dún Laoghaire took over in 1821. The harbour was built between 1807 and 1813. Howth's name comes from the Old Norse "Hǫfuð" (head or headland).
