Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden

Overview

Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden is an enchanting, volunteer-maintained garden sculpted from an abandoned rail yard on Lavender Bay, with harbour views framed by jacarandas and frangipani. Artist Wendy Whiteley began transforming the derelict land in 1992.

History

After her husband Brett Whiteley's death in 1992, Wendy began clearing the overgrown rail cutting below her home. Over 25 years, she created a community garden now protected by NSW government heritage listing.

• Free and always open: A peaceful escape just 200 metres from Milsons Point Station.
• Combine: Walk to Luna Park (5 min) or across the bridge (20 min).
