Overview
Manly Beach is a laid-back northern beaches destination reached by a scenic 30-minute ferry from Circular Quay. The 1.5 km ocean beach offers excellent surf, while the sheltered Manly Cove and Shelly Beach provide calm swimming.

- The Corso: A pedestrian strip connecting the harbour wharf to the ocean beach, lined with surf shops and juice bars.

History
Named by Captain Arthur Phillip in 1788 for the "manly" bearing of the local Aboriginal men, Manly became a seaside resort in the 1850s. The ferry service has run continuously since 1855.
Visitor Tips
- Snorkel Shelly Beach: Bring a snorkel — the underwater marine reserve teems with blue gropers and cuttlefish.
- Q Station walk: From Manly, walk to the historic Quarantine Station at North Head (3 km).
- Duration: 2–4 hours.
