History
Developed as an entertainment quarter serving Yasaka Shrine visitors. Approximately 80 geiko and 80 maiko still practice here.
Visitor Tips
- Respect: Do not chase or block geiko/maiko. Kyoto has strict photography rules in parts of Gion.
- Evening Walk: Most atmospheric between 5–8 PM.
- Duration: 1–1.5 hours.
