Overview
Yunessun is a unique themed hot-spring water park that combines traditional Japanese onsen culture with playful novelty baths. Visitors can soak in pools of coffee, wine, green tea, and even sake alongside more conventional hot-spring pools.
Highlights
- Wine Bath: A pool filled with real red wine, meant to promote smooth skin — visitors can pour themselves glasses while soaking.
- Coffee Bath: A fragrant pool of brewed coffee said to aid relaxation and stimulate circulation.
- Mori no Yu: The traditional indoor/outdoor onsen zone (clothing-free) features serene rock pools, cypress baths, and a panoramic terrace overlooking the mountains.
History
Opened in 2001, Yunessun was designed to make onsen culture accessible and fun for families, including those unfamiliar with or shy about traditional nude bathing. The novelty baths rotate seasonally, with past additions including ramen and chocolate pools.
Visitor Tips
- Two Zones: The fun "Yunessun" zone is swimsuit-required; the serious "Mori no Yu" zone is traditional (nude). Many visitors do both.
- Bring a Swimsuit: Rentals are available but bringing your own is more comfortable.
- Duration: 3–4 hours.
