Overview
The Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands preserves a rare high-altitude marsh ecosystem in the Sengokuhara highlands. Over 1,700 species of native wetland and alpine plants grow in this carefully maintained area of natural beauty.
Highlights
- Alpine Wildflowers: Seasonal blooms including skunk cabbage in spring, irises in summer, and golden grasses in autumn.
- Boardwalk Paths: Elevated wooden walkways wind through the wetland, keeping feet dry while offering close views of marsh plants and wildlife.
- Bird Watching: The wetland habitat attracts numerous native bird species, especially during spring and autumn migration.
History
