History
Founded in 1774 by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria as a teaching garden for the Brera Academy's pharmacy students, it remains affiliated with the University of Milan. It covers just 5,000 square meters but contains over 300 plant species.
Visitor Tips
- Easily Missed: Enter through a small gate on Via Brera; most tourists walk right past.
- Seasonal: Open April to November only; check exact dates as they change yearly.
