Reformation Wall

Overview

The Reformation Wall (Mur des Réformateurs) is a 100-metre-long monument in Parc des Bastions honouring the key figures of the Protestant Reformation. The four central statues stand 5 metres tall.

Highlights

• Central statues: Guillaume Farel, John Calvin, Théodore de Bèze, and John Knox.
• Bas-reliefs: Scenes depicting major events of the Reformation across Europe.
• Motto: "Post Tenebras Lux" (After darkness, light) — Geneva's city motto.

History

Inaugurated in 1909 on the 400th anniversary of Calvin's birth and the 350th anniversary of the University of Geneva's founding.
