Overview

CERN's Science Gateway is an immersive science centre designed by Renzo Piano, offering hands-on exhibits about particle physics, the Big Bang, and the Large Hadron Collider. It opened in October 2023.

History

CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) was founded in 1954. The Science Gateway replaced the older Microcosm exhibition, opening in 2023 as a world-class science communication centre.

Visitor Tips

• Free entry: Timed tickets must be booked online in advance.
• Getting there: Tram 18 from Cornavin station, about 25 minutes.
• Duration: 2–3 hours.
