Coconut Grove is Miami's oldest and leafiest neighborhood — a charming waterfront village of spreading banyan trees, sidewalk cafés, the Barnacle Historic State Park, and a bohemian sensibility.
Coconut Grove was an independent city before Miami existed, settled by Bahamian immigrants in the 1870s. It became an artists' and writers' community and has maintained its bohemian character.
