Griffith Park is one of North America's largest urban parks at 4,310 acres — a vast expanse of hiking trails, the LA Zoo, the Greek Theatre, and the iconic Griffith Observatory.
Donated to the city by Colonel Griffith J. Griffith in 1896, the park was originally part of Rancho Los Feliz. Griffith also funded the Observatory and Greek Theatre after surviving a scandalous criminal conviction.
