Lipscani is Bucharest's historic Old Town, a compact grid of narrow streets packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and the remnants of the city's 19th-century commercial architecture. It's ground zero for Bucharest's legendary nightlife.
Named after the Leipzig (Lipscani) trade fairs that Bucharest merchants attended, the quarter was the commercial heart of the city. After decades of neglect, it was revitalised in the 2000s as an entertainment district.
