Herăstrău Park (now officially King Michael I Park) is Bucharest's largest park, wrapping around a 74-hectare lake in the north of the city. It's where Bucharesters come to escape the urban heat with boating, cycling, and lakeside dining.
The park was created in 1936 around a dammed section of the Colentina River, coinciding with the founding of the Village Museum.
