Calea Victoriei is Bucharest's most historic boulevard, running from the National History Museum to Victory Square past Belle Époque palaces, the Athenaeum, and the CEC Palace. It's the backbone of old Bucharest.
Originally a wooden-planked road to Mogoșoaia Palace, Calea Victoriei was renamed after the 1878 Romanian War of Independence. It was Bucharest's Champs-Élysées.
