Funicular dos Guindais

Overview

The Funicular dos Guindais is a short, steep cable railway connecting Porto's Ribeira waterfront to the upper Batalha neighbourhood. The 2-minute ride saves a steep climb and offers close-up views of the Dom Luís Bridge.

History

The original funicular operated from 1891 to 1893 before an accident shut it down. It was rebuilt and reopened in 2004.
