Overview
Haneul Park (Sky Park) is a hilltop park atop a former landfill near the World Cup Stadium, famous for its vast silver grass (eulalia) fields that shimmer gold in autumn and sweeping panoramic views of Seoul.
Highlights
- Silver Grass Fields: In October and November, the hilltop becomes a sea of golden pampas grass.
- Sunset Viewpoint: One of Seoul's best spots for watching the sun set over the western skyline.
- Seoul Skyline: Clear views from Namsan Tower to the mountains beyond.
History
The site was Seoul's largest garbage landfill from 1978 to 1993. For the 2002 World Cup, it was transformed into an ecological park — one of the world's most successful landfill-to-park conversions.
