Overview
Gamcheon Culture Village is a steeply terraced hillside of vibrantly painted houses, murals, and installations overlooking Busan's harbor — often called 'Korea's Machu Picchu' or 'Korea's Santorini.'
Highlights
- Colorful Houses: Hundreds of pastel-painted houses stacked on the hillside creating a rainbow labyrinth.
- Art Installations: The Little Prince statue, fish-shaped murals, and dozens of whimsical sculptures.
- Stamp Trail: A tourist stamp trail map guides you past the major art installations.
History
The village was settled by refugees during the Korean War who built makeshift homes on the steep hillside. In 2009, a government art project transformed it with murals and installations, creating one of Korea's most visited attractions.
