Palazzo Strozzi is a vast Renaissance palace turned world-class exhibition venue, hosting 2–3 major art shows per year. The powerful Strozzi family built it to rival the Medici—its facade is the finest pure-Renaissance exterior in Florence.
Begun in 1489 by Filippo Strozzi, the palace was designed to outdo the Medici's Palazzo Medici. Three architects—da Maiano, Cronaca, and Sangallo—contributed over 46 years of construction.
