Fisherman's Bastion is a fairytale neo-Romanesque terrace on Castle Hill, designed as a viewing platform rather than a fortress. Its seven turrets represent the seven Magyar tribes, and its white stone balustrades frame the best Parliament view in Budapest.
Built 1895–1902 by Frigyes Schulek as a decorative terrace—never a real fortification. It takes its name from the guild of fishermen who defended this section of the medieval walls.
