Buža Bar

Overview

Buža Bar is Dubrovnik's famous cliff bar, carved into the outside of the city walls above the open Adriatic. You reach it through a small hole in the wall (buža means 'hole'), emerging onto rocky terraces with nothing between you and the sea.

• Cliff-side location: Tables perched on rocks above the Adriatic—uniquely dramatic.
• Swimming: Jump from the rocks into the sea and climb back for another drink.
• Sunset: Facing due south/west, the bar catches spectacular sunsets.

History

The bar began informally when locals would slip through the wall opening to sunbathe on the cliffs. It has since become one of Dubrovnik's most famous attractions.

Visitor Tips

• Find the hole: Look for a small sign saying 'Cold Drinks' on the wall near the Jesuit church.
• Cash only: Simple menu—beers and basic drinks.
• Duration: 30–90 minutes.
